First, check your arrival point

Manchester Airport’s terminal arrangements can change as redevelopment progresses. Confirm your airline’s current terminal before booking a service and check the instructions you receive before travel.

Every car park was renumbered in March 2026

This is the detail that matters most right now, because older guides are out of date and people are following them.

In March 2026 Manchester replaced its car park names with a numbered system — every car park is now a P-number, P1 to P16. If you read a guide written before that, or you have an old booking confirmation, the names won't match the signs.

Two you'll actually need: T2 West Multi Storey is P3, and T3 Multi Storey is P14.

The barrierless car park

T2 West Multi Storey (P3) has no barriers on the way in or out, and no payment machines on site. Cameras read your plate and you pay online.

If you're used to taking a ticket and paying on the way out, this will feel wrong — you'll drive out expecting a barrier and there won't be one. That's normal. But the payment is still owed, and the deadline is midnight the day after your visit.

T3 Multi Storey (P14) still works the old way: take a token at the barrier, pay at a machine or at the exit.

Dropping off and picking up are in different places

This is the rule people break at Manchester.

Drop-off happens on the terminal forecourt. Charges start from a short included window and rise steeply, with a maximum stay of thirty minutes. It's barrierless — cameras record you and you pay online by midnight the following day.

Picking up on the forecourt is prohibited. For collections you use the ground floor of the Multi Storey at your terminal. Follow the signs for Pick Up or the P-number, not the signs for Drop Off, because those take you to the forecourt where you're not allowed to wait.

The free option is JetParks 1, which gives you up to an hour at no charge with a shuttle to the terminal. Overstay and there's a substantial charge, so keep an eye on it.

Blue Badge holders can be dropped at the forecourt without charge. For pick-ups the arriving passenger has to show their badge to a traffic marshal, so it isn't automatic.

Turn up and park, if you must

Two car parks take drive-ups — P3 at Terminal 2 and P14 at Terminal 3 — but spaces are genuinely limited and the drive-up rate is much higher than the pre-booked one. Treat it as a fallback, not a plan.

Before you book, check these five

1. Your terminal and the current P-number for your car park
2. Whether your car park is barrierless — if so, pay online afterwards
3. That you're heading to Pick Up, not Drop Off, if you're collecting
4. Whether an older guide gave you the pre-March 2026 car park name
5. Return date and cancellation terms

A night near the airport

For an early departure, compare the cost of a nearby room with your preferred arrival plan. Check how you will get from the hotel to the terminal at the time you need to travel.

• Confirm room occupancy, check-in hours and any early breakfast options.
• Ask whether the shuttle is included, pre-booked or paid separately.
• A “hotel with parking” offer may cover only your overnight stay. A holiday parking package needs to cover your full trip.

Make time for the lounge

Check that the lounge is in the departure area you can access. Entry rules, opening hours, maximum stay and child policies vary. Allow time for security and the walk to your gate before choosing an entry time.

Arrange the ride, both ways

Use the exact pickup and destination addresses when requesting a quote. Include everyone travelling, the size of your bags and any child-seat or accessibility requirements.

• Check the meeting point, contact number and waiting-time allowance.
• Ask how flight delays, parking charges and additional stops are handled.
• For your return journey, allow time to clear arrivals and collect bags.

Collect a car with the details checked

Airport car hire can be convenient, but the collection desk may be in the terminal, reached by shuttle or at an off-airport location. Check where to collect and return the vehicle before paying.

• Confirm driver age, licence and payment-card requirements.
• Compare the deposit, fuel, mileage and insurance terms—not only the headline price.
• Check opening hours and what happens if your flight arrives late.
